1. Eco: Located in South London, this gourmet pizza restaurant has been around for quite a long time. The student crowd although is a change from its initial kind of crowd of gourmet foodie’s. They serve very thin crusty bread pizza that is heavenly in taste with its generous toppings. Run by Neapolitan-expat Giuseppe Macoli, the pizza is strictly Neapolitan with many rules regarding its preparation. The mozzarella they use is from Alham Wood Farm in Somerset where it is prepared from milk of water buffalos. They have six different toppings, like chorizo, wild mushroom and garlic, and the oven has been imported specially from Italy.
3. Il Baretto: Il Baretto had a bad start. Initially known as Giusto, the restaurant’s ground floor was not used much, which meant a lot of people never realised that there was a restaurant in the basement. However, in recent times, the restaurant has changed the way it looks with large and airy rooms, Italian limestone flooring, walls made from brick, and panelling upstairs, and has shifted the restaurant business downstairs. It is located on Blandford Street, and with its wood-fired ovens, there is excellent food here from swordfish carpaccio to lobster.
