MIAMI--In the heart of the city's new hip art and entertainment district, the highly anticipated Karu&Y restaurant and ultralounge, which opened its doors in September, commissioned Canadian-born artist, Richard Boprae, to create two art installations, spanning 60 feet. Entitled "Source" the piece is comprised of two separate 11- x 30-foot wide wall murals that are positioned on opposite sides of the restaurant and hung 14 feet above the dining area.
"We could not have selected a more appropriate artist to create an artistic centerpiece that so clearly reflects the style and philosophy of Karu&Y" says Cesar Sotomayor, managing partner. "1 am inspired by Boprae's vision. He has truly mastered the ability to bring the natural elements to life through a contemporary style."
Inspired by the basic elements and close observations of nature, "Source" resembles a repetitive pattern of flowing raindrops etched on canvas with a cement medium, and painted in rich, earthy tones. The artist aspires to create a balance between cement construction and the aesthetic touch of an artist in order to unite masculine and feminine energies. |
